Chef Phubase ChuprakongExecutive chef
Phubase Chuprakong serves as executive chef of akyra Manor Chiang Mai, where he oversees the entire food and beverage program including Italics restaurant and RISE rooftop bar. Originally from Phuket, Thailand, he is an only child in his family. Chuprakong has a passion for cooking that started when he was required to work as a trainee in the kitchen for one semester and knew that there was so much more he wanted to learn. Upon graduation in 2006, Chuprakong relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where he spent three years obtaining various culinary certificates from AOI Institute. While pursuing his extensive culinary education, Chuprakong also worked in an Italian and a Thai restaurant. In 2009, Chuprakong returned to Phuket and began working at the Phuket Thai Cookery School, teaching hungry tourists about his beloved native cuisine. Soon after, he became demi chef de partie at Mare, a fine-dining Italian restaurant at Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket where he had the opportunity to work under a talented Italian-born chef. In August 2014, Chuprakong joined the Iniala Beach House, where he worked as executive sous chef with the restaurant running by three Michelin stars chef, Aziamendi and very talented Spanish Executive chef Sandro. He brings his experience in high-end luxury resort cuisine, along with an infectious love for his craft, to akyra Manor Chiang Mai. “Cooking is my passion,” Chuprakong says. “I love the high responsibility, skill, and standards that are involved because they are worthy investments.” |
